Hyderabad: The Anti Corruption Bureau officials raided the residence of A. Sanath Kumar, assistant executive engineer (now resigned), quality control, TTD, in Chittoor on Sunday and unearthed disproportionate assets worth `67.83 lakh. He will be arrested and produced before a special court.

Hyderabad: The Jubilee hills police on Sunday arrested three pseudo police on charges of extorting money from lorry drivers transporting sand under Hyderabad and Cyberabad police commissionerates. The accused were identified as Shaik Wajeed, 21, Mohd Feroz, 23 and Mohd. Samiuddin, 21. Police said that the accused used to threaten lorry drivers with a toy pistol and extort money.

Hyderabad: Rajaboina Ravi, 37, sub-inspector of police, Madugula police station, Mahbubnagar district, was caught red-handed by the ACB officials at his house on Monday while he was taking Rs 8,000 as bribe from a person for doing an official favour.


Retaining wall of temple falls (Tue, 07 Sep 2010 00:00:00 +0530)

Vijayawada: Nearly 20 cement blocks of the Sri Durga temple retaining wall on Indrakeeladri collapsed on Monday. The temple authorities immediately took up restoration works. The 42-metre tall, 45-metre wide retaining wall was completed in March 2010. The authorities had taken up the construction of the retaining wall and protective works at a cost of `5.3 crore three years ago.

Hyderabad, Sept. 6: Locals tried to douse the fire at Madina building in the old city by pouring water with buckets but the flames spread rapidly. Decorative items on the ground floor of the hotel got damaged while some furniture in the first floor was gutted.
